Screenshot by Lori Grunin/CNET You can never have too many overlays — that’s got to be someone’s motto. At least Nvidia’s made one that seems pretty useful for trying to figure out why your $800 graphics card is more spud than speed demon. The company’s new FrameView utility could help answer some other questions too: Why cut scenes are rendering as if half the screen is in another time zone, for example. Or why you’re convinced that the Blue Screen of Death must be a feature of the game. FrameView, which has just entered beta testing in conjunction with the launch of its new series of RTX Super cards, can display and capture real-time, as-you-play performance statistics on the lag between the GPU and display. It can also determine what types of frame rates you should be getting, and where GPU and graphics card power-draw spikes (and by implication, possible overheating) might be overwhelming your system’s ability to deal. No extra measurement equipment required. It will even work with AMD cards, though it can’t report the power statistics as granularly because of the way the software works. It’ll need a little help from AMD to tweak the data it reports via its programming interface. I only had a brief chance to give it a whirl — long enough to see that the data it captures may offer some interesting insights. I could see where adaptive sync technologies such as G-Sync and FreeSync may be effective, where frame rates really are tanking and more. It also captures data for random other applications running, as well. It dumped data for the Windows display manager (dwm.exe) and Slack, for example, but not Chrome. The frame rate data is going to need some deeper diving, though, since it didn’t quite jibe with the numbers I got for a quick benchmark run I got from Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey. But beta is beta is beta, so there’s plenty of time to fall down that bottomless data pit. AMD Nvidia Our E3 breakdown: Microsoft’s Project Scarlett looks… 0
Kit Harington as Jon Snow in Game of Thrones season 8 episode 6Game of Thrones (@gameofthrones/Instagram)Game of Thrones season 8 episode 6 is going to be the last time when we are going to see the world of Westeros and the amazing characters it brought to life. Game of Thrones prequel is still in work and it might bring the origin story to Night King but fans are currently focused on the last and the final episode which is going to air in just two days.Game of Thrones season 8 has met with some heavy criticism from fans from around the world. Several fans are blaming the poor writing for such a disappointing story arc. As we mentioned earlier, a fan has even started an online petition to urge HBO to reshoot the ongoing last season with “competent writers.” As of this writing, that petition has already grossed more than 850,000 signatures and it will touch the 1 million mark by Saturday. But are things going to get different with the currently untitled episode 6 of Game of Thrones season 8?For starters, in the upcoming episode, we are going to see the conclusion of those characters whom we have adored from the last ten years. We might see Arya Stark wearing some face to kill Daenerys Targaryen. At the same time, there are chances that we might see Bran Stark finally warging into a dragon and burning Daenerys Targaryen alive. Whatever the scenario is, fans deserve a magical ending from a show like Game of Thrones and we just have to wait a couple of days to stream it online.Game of Thrones season 8 episode 6 will feature Kit Harington as Jon Snow/Aegon Targaryen, Maisie Williams as Arya Stark, Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister, Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen, and Sophie Turner as Sansa Stark. It would be interesting to see if we get to see some other major characters reprising their respective roles.Game of Thrones season 8 episode 6 will air in the United States on Sunday at 9 pm on HBO. In India, the uncensored episode of HBO’s Game of Thrones will air on Hotstar on Monday, May 20, 2019. Fans in the United Kingdom will be able to watch it on Sky Atlantic at 2 am on Monday morning.
Kolkata: Organ recipient Moumita Chakraborty died at SSKM hospital in the wee hours of Monday, three days after a kidney transplant. According to hospital sources, Chakraborty, a resident of Khardah, died at around 2.45 am after her body developed ‘transplant rejection’, a spokesperson from the state Health department said. The woman was kept in ventilation since August 17 after the kidney transplant and her condition gradually deteriorated. It may be mentioned that Chakraborty was one of the recipients of the organs donated by 15-year-old Mallika Majumder, who was declared brain-dead by the SSKM Hospital authorities on August 17.
