The seven teams in postseason play is a Southland record. New OrleansThe Privateers will stay at home to host UTRGV at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the first round of the CBI. UNO is making back-to-back postseason appearances after qualifying for the NCAA Tournament a year ago.
Southeastern LouisianaThe Lions earned an automatic bid to the National Invitation Tournament after winning a share of the Southland regular-season championship and earning the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament. The Lions head west as a No. 8 seed to face No. 1 St. Mary’s. The game is set for a 9 p.m. tipoff Tuesday on ESPNU. Central ArkansasCentral Arkansas garnered a spot in the 16-team field of the 11th annual College Basketball Invitational. The Bears travel to the northwest to challenge Seattle on Wednesday at 9 p.m. Their 17 wins heading into the tournament is the most for the program since moving to NCAA Division I in 2006-07. Sam Houston StateThe Bearkats have a first-round bye and will await a winner from Monday’s first four games. This is the fourth time Sam Houston is competing in the CIT.
