December 15, 2004 Regular News Calling all Rattlers FLORIDA A&M UNIVERSITY College of Law Dean Percy R. Luney, Jr., center, addresses the crowd as the school celebrates the completion of exterior construction on its permanent campus in downtown Orlando. The new law school campus, at the corner of Hughey Avenue and Washington Street, is scheduled to open in the fall of 2005. Participants in the “topping off” ceremony signed a special beam and workers placed the beam, the highest structural element of the building, into place and topped the building with a small evergreen tree. The ceremony symbolizes the end of exterior construction and acknowledges that construction has proceeded without any loss of life.
